How to transfer a Registration

If you allow registrations to be transferred, should the original attendee not be able to attend, you will need to cancel the original registration, and then create a promo code for the new attendee to register at no cost or for a discounted fee.

Transferring a paid registration to another attendee.

1st: Cancel the original attendee's registration: (How to Cancel a Registration) This is done so you can remove the attendee that is no longer attending from all courses and events that they registered for, so you will have a true headcount for each course and event according to active registration selections.

2nd: Create a Promo code for the new attendee taking the place of the original attendee so they can register (How to create a promo code). It is up to you whether you will allow a straight across trade, if you want to only issue a promo for the amount previously paid by the original attendee, or if you will withhold a transfer fee.

  • Straight Across Trade:  You will create a 100% off promo code.
  • Previously Paid Credit:  You will create a fixed promo code for the amount paid by the original attendee.  Examples: If you are offering a pay per course event you will definitely want to only issue a previously paid credit promo code. This will stop the new attendee from registering for more than was originally purchased by the original attendee. If your original attendee received a member discount and you are not sure if the transferring attendee is a member also you will want to issue a previously paid credit promo.  If the original attendee registered during early bird pricing and it is no longer early bird pricing and you prefer that the transferring attendee not receive early bird pricing you will want to issue a previously paid credit promo code, so the transferring attendee will be responsible for the price difference.  Please note that CE Zoom service fees are not transferable and the transferring attendee will be responsible for CE Zoom service fees associated with their registration.
  • Transfer Fee:  If you charge a transfer fee you will create a fixed promo code for the amount paid by the original attendee minus your transfer fee.  The transferring attendee will be responsible for paying the transfer fee.  Please note that CE Zoom service fees are not transferable and the transferring attendee will be responsible for CE Zoom service fees associated with their registration.
3rd: Forward the registration link and promo code you just created to the new attendee so they can register.
