By default, the system is set to Course-Related CE Activity (toggle set to 'No'), which should be used for traditional continuing education courses such as live, virtual, on-demand, and self-study courses.

These are structured, formal learning opportunities usually taught by an expert in the field, and are designed to help professionals stay competitive in their fields or acquire new skills, knowledge, and qualifications. These CE activities have various educational methods, including in-person, online, hybrid, self-study, and on-demand, and follow learning objectives. Completion certificates are usually issued at the conclusion of these CE activities.

The second step is to enter the total continuing education hours earned for the activity.

Enter the total number of CE hours awarded for successfully completing the course or activity, as listed on your CE certificate or supporting documentation.

Important: If you attended a multi-day live course, create a separate CE record for each day of attendance. Enter only the CE hours earned on that specific date. Do not combine multiple days into a single CE record.

Best Practice: We recommend not entering more than 8 CE hours in a single record. Many licensing boards limit the number of CE hours that can be earned in one day. If you combine multiple days of a course into one record, any hours exceeding your licensing board's daily maximum may not be applied toward your renewal requirements by the CE Tracker.

If you're entering a Non-Course Related CE Activity, such as volunteer service, teaching, publications, committee participation, or another qualifying CE activity, toggle Yes. The wizard will automatically update to display the fields needed to accurately document, store, and track non-course continuing education activities, ensuring your CE is applied correctly toward your licensing requirements.

Non-course-related CE activity is a variety of professional development opportunities that are informal and not guided by structured curricula or instructors. The following are some examples of non-course-related CE activities:

        • Attendance
        • Board members
        • Exams
        • Patents
        • Publications
        • Research
        • Schooling
        • Teaching
        • Volunteering

‼️ Important: Non-Course Related CE Activities do not include a Total CE Hours Issued field in the Basic Information step. Instead, you'll answer activity-specific questions that allow the system to calculate and apply the appropriate CE credit based on your licensing board's requirements under the CE Hours Info step.
