Understanding CE

What qualifies as Continuing Dental Education?  Educational activities that help dental professionals review and build on what they already know, learn new information beyond basic dental training, and stay updated on recent advances in dental and medical science.

Can a CE Activity be about a specific product or service? The educational content of a CE activity should not be centered around promoting a specific product or brand. Instead, a CE Activity can be developed with broader educational focus on the history, methodology, clinical application or needs that may be related to the product or brand. Provided the focus is on how this information enhances a person's knowledge, skills, and ability to deliver high-quality patient care without promoting one product or service over another.

How can I use CE Activity to increase knowledge about using a specific product or service? CE Activities can be designed as ‘Product Trainings’ to educate existing and current users of the product or service so that they can fully implement and understand the methodologies, technique and clinical relevance of the product or service.

When can I share information about a specific product or service? Product or brand advertising and promotional material may only be shared after the educational portion of the CE activity has concluded. The best way to indicate the end of the educational portion of the CE Activity is to display or verbally inform the attendees ‘this concludes the educational portion of the CE Activity” and give out the verification code. This allows the attendee to optionally stay for any information regarding the product or service.

What type of events are eligible for CE? Beyond the standard Live in-person or Live-virtual lecture courses, CE Activities can be in the form of lunch and learns, pre-recorded videos/modules of learning, panel discussions, hands-on activities..etc. Prior to planning these types of learning events, it is recommended to involve CE Zoom Planners to ensure the overall CE Activities complies with all AGD-PACE standards and minimize the need for alterations.

Why become an AGD-PACE Joint CE Provider with CE Zoom? The dental industry has two main types of approvals for CE Courses, AGD-PACE and ADA-CERP. Obtaining these Program Approvals can be time consuming and expensive. However, through the ‘Joint CE Provider’ Program, CE Zoom offers organizations a pathway to deliver CE courses that meet these high standards- without the time and expense and maintenance of their own approvals.
